Coaches' Corner: Joe Walker
Wednesday's signing day was big for the Oregon Ducks as they brought in 18 of the top high school football players in the country. It was a coup for first year head coach Mark Helfrich who held the class largely intact and added some big names late.
But one player from the class of 2013 was already enrolled at the University of Oregon on the day the high schoolers made it official. Los Angeles Harbor CC standout Joe Walker was able to enroll for winter term and has already started working out with the team.
Duck Sports Authority caught up with his LA Harbor head coach Brett Peabody to get his assessment of his middle linebacker.
"The guy plays hard and he has got great intensity," said Peabody. "He really emerged as a leader this year as well. His athleticism at his size of 6-foot-3, 230-pounds and his speed has really brought a nice element to our defense. That length with the speed was impressive."
