October 19, 2009 San Francisco (Calif.) City College of San Francisco kicked a field goal in the final moments to defeat previously undefeated and reigning Dirty 30 national champion Oroville (Calif.) Butte College, 16-14, on Saturday. The Rams once again moved up to No. 2 and traded places with Brenham (TX) Blinn College, as the Buccaneers struggled to beat Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, 55-42.No. 1 El Camino improved to 7-0 on the season with a comfortable 42-20 win over College of the Desert on Saturday. The Warriors will now get a bye to gear up for No. 9 Mt. San Antonio College on Halloween and still have to face undefeated No. 16 Cerritos to close out the season on November 14. El Camino has been outscoring its opponents by 30 points-per-game through seven contests, but has only played one team ranked in the JCGridiron Dirty 30 rankings, defeating No. 12 Bakersfield College 40-24 on September 26. No. 2 San Francisco passed its first NorCal Conference test of the season with the win over Butte but there is no rest in sight for the Rams. A game against Diablo Valley this weekend is the last real break on the schedule before facing No. 11 San Mateo, No. 34 Foothill and No. 36 Santa Rosa in the final three weeks of the season. No. 3 Blinn is clearly headed for a showdown against No. 4 Navarro on Halloween for the Southwest Junior College Football Conference regular season title. Blinn and Navarro will both have a warmup session this weekend when they face Cisco and Arkansas Baptist respectively, two teams with a combined 3-11 record. Blinn and Navarro are likely to meet one another again in the SJCFC playoffs, which start on November 6. No. 5 Fort Scott has put together an impressive resume of their own and trampled Highland College 59-17 over the weekend to keep its national title hopes in tact. The Greyhounds will face non-affiliated Air Force Prep this Friday in a tune-up for No. 7 Butler on Halloween day for the Jayhawk Conference regular season title. Much like the aforementioned programs from Texas, Fort Scott and Butler may get two chances at each other as the Jayhawk Conference playoffs starting a week later. A grouping of one-loss teams round out the top-10, with Mississippi Gulf Coast leading the charge. All of these teams with another 10 behind them still have an outside chance of winning the Dirty 30 national title as the regular season heads into its last month of play.
