Indianapolis DB on the radar

Indianapolis (Ind.) Cathedral is having a strong season in 2009 and Jake Zupancic is a big reason why. The 5-foot-11, 196-pound defensive back has been hearing from a lot of schools in BCS conferences, and he's hoping to hear more from Boston Colleges.

While the coaches from BC have not gone out of their way to contact Zupancic over the phone or in person just yet, they have been sending him mail for a while. Based on what he knows about the school, Zupancic is hoping their interest picks up.

"I've mostly just been receiving letters from them so far," he explained. "I know it's a great school academically. I sent my film to them about two or three weeks ago but I haven't heard back from them yet."

Zupancic has been hearing from Purdue, Louisville, Indiana, Northwestern, Eastern Illinois and Southern Illinois.

"I'd say Purdue and Louisville have shown me the most interest so far," he continued. "I went down to Louisville for their Homecoming game against Southern Miss this past weekend. Then the weekend after this one I'm going to Purdue for their game against Illinois."

Zupancic said he is keeping his options open and declined to list any favorites.

Most schools are still evaluating the film he sent out recently, so he should be hearing back from some of them in the near future.

On the year Zupancic has recorded 61 tackles, an interception, three tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.

"I'd say I'm a smart player," he said, breaking down his own game. "I make good breaks on the ball. I'm trying to improve my open-field tackling."
