Morris will play in 2013 Under Armour Game
Warren (Mich.) De La Salle junior quarterback Shane Morris is no stranger to the spotlight. He committed to Michigan prior to the start of his junior season of high school, and lit up the summer circuit with a championship performance in the IMG 7-on-7 tournament and a runner-up performance at Gridiron Kings. Now, he has committed to play in the 2013 Under Armour All-America Game at the end of his senior year, thanks in part to his experience at Gridiron Kings.
His relationships with the organizers helped Morris choose the Under Armour Game over the U.S. Army All-American Bowl, to which he was also invited. Being the first player invited to the Under Armour Game also helped make up his mind.
Morris is known as one of Michigan's ace recruiters among football commitments, and he plans to use his appearance in the Under Armour Game as a recruiting platform. Several of the nation's top targets will get Morris' best pitch in Orlando.
Morris has already been hard at work on the recruiting trail. He was in Ann Arbor for Sunday's basketball victory over Wisconsin (during which he appeared on CBS' game broadcast, thanks to a distinctive hat), and tried to sell Peoria (Ill.) Manual junior offensive lineman Logan Tuley-Tillman on the Wolverines.
Next weekend, Morris will be able to put recruiting on hold. That's not because he won't see a highly-touted class of 2013 prospect, but because Alliance (Ohio) Marlington safety Dymonte Thomas has already picked Michigan.
Both of Michigan's junior commitments are hoping to make it to Ann Arbor during the course of the weekend to visit with Michigan's coaches. For Morris and his good friend Thomas, there's no place they'd rather be.
