A few games remain in race for Dirty 30
The 2023 season is finished for most, but quite a few teams still have themselves in a decent spot to challenge for the JCGridiron Dirty 30 national title. One more dropped out of contention this past weekend as the NJCAA and 3C2A playoffs are right around the corner.
The Mississippi title game saw a familiar face emerge when East Mississippi downed Copiah-Lincoln, 27-20, to knock Co-Lin out of any chance at playing for a title. The Lions moved up to No. 9 with the win, but still need a lot help if they are going to make any claims for a title in 2023. First off, they need to make the NJCAA Final Four, which is not guaranteed but will be named on Monday.
Kilgore looks like they will make the NJCAA Final Four after beating Navarro, 48-39, in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference title game. The Rangers were No. 3 in the NJCAA polls last week and did nothing to hurt themselves with the win. Kilgore comes in at No. 7 in the JCGridiron Dirty 30, with the potential for a couple of massive wins should they run the table.
Most of the California ranks had the week off, but will kick into playoff mode this week with some huge showdowns in both regions. Up north, No. 10 American River will host No. 8 San Francisco for a chance to play for the Northern California title while No. 4 San Mateo will host No. 22 Modesto in looking to advance. Down south, No. 29 Ventura will travel to No. 3 Fullerton while No. 6 Riverside City will travel to No. 2 Mt. San Antonio in the SoCal playoffs.
