Dirty 30 Rankings has some movers

With two weeks of the spring football season behind us, there is some movement in the JCGridiron Dirty 30 Rankings. Some teams are off to a hot start while others haven’t seemed to find their football mojo during the spring.

The good news is, there hasn’t been any cancelations so far, which tells me the programs learned a little something from those that tried to move forward with fall football. The Jayhawk, Iowa, Southwest JCFC and Independents have been right on schedule, making for an entertaining spring.

The biggest movers so far have been Cisco, Trinity Valley, Hutchinson, Snow and New Mexico Military

Cisco started the season barely on the radar and after two big wins now appears at No. 21 in the rankings. The latest win was a dominating performance against Blinn where the Wranglers blasted the Buccaneers 49-14. Quarterback Cooper Bell was sensational, finishing 23-of-29 for 266 yards and two scores through the air while leading Cisco with 82 yards and two more scores on the ground. The Wranglers have a bye this week.

Trinity Valley is another making a big move as TVCC started the season on the bubble at No. 36 and has since moved up to No. 15 after dominating wins against NEO and Tyler. The Cardinals made a mess of Tyler over the weekend, forcing three turnovers while piling up 447 yards of offense. Trinity Valley will host RPA College Prep in a non-affiliated game this Thursday.

Hutchinson started the season at No. 13 in the rankings and has moved all the way up to No. 5 after stellar performances against Coffeyville and Butler. The Blue Dragons have been extremely stingy on defense, giving up 10 points in both games. Hutchinson bolted out to a 28-3 lead at the half against Butler on Saturday and never looked back in blasting the Grizzlies, 41-10. Tye Edwards was a beast against Butler, rushing for 132 yards and three scores as the Blue Dragons averaged 6.3 yards-per-carry on the afternoon. Hutchinson will host Arkansas Baptist on Sunday.

Snow improved to 2-0 with a 63-18 beatdown on Southern Shreveport this past Friday. The Badgers started the spring at No. 20 in the rankings and have moved into the top-10 at No. 8 after the quick start. Being the road warriors of JUCO football, Snow now makes the cross-country trip to Lackawanna to take on the high-profile Lackawanna Falcons this Saturday in what should be one of the better matchups of the weekend.

New Mexico Military turned a lot of heads this past weekend with a 56-38 win against Navarro and have moved on to the big board at No. 30 as a result. After an opening loss against the aforementioned Cisco, the Broncos now get a tough challenge when they travel to Kilgore to take on the No. 11 Rangers in a critical Southwest JCFC matchup.

Just a reminder on the rankings, as teams continue to cancel games during the spring they will fall in the rankings. The California ranks have mostly said they won’t play during the spring, and the programs will gradually fall in the rankings throughout the season.

Here is the rest of the updated JCGridiron Dirty 30 Rankings. The Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings.
