Latest Dirty 30 has some new faces

The 2024 season is in full swing, and a few new faces have shown up in the top 10. Modesto Junior College and San Diego Mesa College are both climbing quickly after quick starts.

Modesto had arguably the biggest win of the week after knocking off Northern California power College of San Mateo, 23-20, on Saturday in Modesto. The Pirates have risen to No. 4 in the rankings as a result, which is their highest ranking ever. Modesto has another tough game this week when it travels to No. 17 Butte, who is one of the two other undefeated teams in the Northern California upper-tier ranks.

San Diego Mesa is another riser, and the Olympians climbed to No. 7 in the Dirty 30 Rankings after downing previous top 10 Golden West College, 22-7. Mesa may have one of the top defenses in the country and has allowed just 15 points in three games thus far. Along with Modesto, it is the highest the Olympians have ever been ranked in what is now the 20th year of the rankings. San Diego Mesa gets a breather this week against Grossmont College before heading into league play.

No. 1 Hutchinson and No. 2 Gulf Coast are separated at the top by an eyelash, and we saw no change this week. Hutch had a bye while Gulf Coast defeated Southwest Mississippi, 55-36. Hutchinson gets the ultimate breather this week with Ellsworth while Gulf Coast has another tough battle against No. 22 Pearl River College.

The Mississippi ranks are as close as ever and have a big faceoff this Thursday when No. 8 Jones travels to No. 6 Holmes. Jones beat previous top 10 Copiah-Lincoln this past week, 21-12, in what was the seventh straight win in the series. Holmes cruised past Northeast, 41-7.

Kilgore has taken the early lead in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference after a 2-0 start. The Rangers come in at No. 10 in the Dirty 30 Rankings after beating rival Navarro, 23-13. Kilgore now hosts Cisco College, and the Wranglers are coming in hot after upsetting Trinity Valley this past weekend, 34-30.

The rest of the Dirty 30 Rankings follow. Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings.
