Latest Dirty 30 Rankings
The 2023 season is starting to head down the stretch drive of the regular season and close to a dozen programs still have a chance to claim the 19th Dirty 30 title. Very little change occurred in the top-10 this week.
Kilgore made a big push towards capturing the Southwest Junior College Football Conference title with a 37-17 win over Trinity Valley College. The Rangers are now the only one-loss team (overall) remaining in the conference and moved up to No. 10 in the rankings with the win. Kilgore now plays No. 17 Tyler on Saturday, and a win would wrap up the regular season title.
The California ranks are going to have a three week stretch that will eliminate at least 4-5 programs from contention as they head towards the playoffs. The north is still controlled by No. 2 San Francisco while the south has the trio of No. 4 Mt. San Antonio, No. 5 Riverside City and No. 6 Fullerton. The lone intriguing game for those squads this week will be Riverside City hosting a suddenly surging Saddleback team that has won five straight and moved up to No. 33 on the bubble.
Top-ranked Hutchinson has one more obstacle before being able to claim the Jayhawk title when they travel to No. 26 Highland to take on the Scotties. Hutch took care of business against Garden City this past weekend (27-18) and has to stay away from looking ahead to a Iowa crossover battle against No. 3 Iowa Western two weeks down the road.
The Mississippi ranks are a crapshoot. No. 7 Jones and No. 13 East Mississippi are the lone remaining undefeated teams in league play, with No. 8 Copiah-Lincoln and No. 12 Gulf Coast lurking.
No. 3 Iowa Western hosts No. 24 Iowa Central to determine the winner of the three-team Iowa Conference.
