Top teams hold serve in rankings

The top six teams in the JCGridiron Dirty 30 Rankings all remained undefeated and held their spot in the rankings. With 14 teams on bye this week, not much change is expected in the rankings over the next week.

No. 1 Iowa Western, No. 2 East Mississippi, No. 3 San Mateo, No. 4 Jones, No. 5 San Francisco and No. 6 Independence did nothing to hurt their chances this past weekend. All six teams won in convincing fashion and all are undefeated heading to the back half of the schedule.

Behind them, however, things have gotten interesting as a number of programs are making a strong case. No. 7 Snow is 2-0 after traveling to Georgia and defeating Georgia Military convincingly, 49-17. The Badgers now welcome No. 1 Iowa Western to town in a critical battle.

Coffeyville is now at No. 8 after defeating No. 17 Butler 35-21 and the Red Ravens are now 4-0 heading into the bye week. With battles yet to come against No. 22 Garden City and No. 6 Independence, Coffeyville is in a good spot to keep rising.

Ventura won a tough battle at No. 32 Saddleback on Saturday and the Pirates (5-0) head into the bye week with a ton of confidence. With all five remaining opponents somewhere in the top 30 or on the bubble, Ventura looks like one of two teams to beat in the Southern California ranks. The other is No. 10 Canyons, who dealt 2019 champion No. 27 Riverside City its second straight loss (41-24). The two programs are scheduled to meet on November 6.

Don’t look now, but New Mexico Military has suddenly emerged as one of the teams to beat in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference after a 28-18 win at Blinn this past weekend. The Broncos (5-0) moved up to No. 14 in the rankings, three spots behind SWJCFC foe Trinity Valley (5-0). Both squads have a bye this week and don’t meet until the final weekend of the regular season.

The Northeast Conference only has two teams this season, No. 25 Lackawanna (1-1) and No. 26 Monroe (2-0). They meet this weekend in what is essentially the NEFC title game. With limited opportunities to move up in the rankings, this game is huge for both programs if they want to make a big move upwards.

The rest of the Dirty 30 Rankings follow. Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings.
