A little shakeup at the top of the Dirty 30

The season is approaching the halfway point and a handful of programs fell from the ranks of unbeaten. Five teams ranked in the top-15 dropped games this past weekend, hurting their chances of winning the JCGridiron Dirty 30 title for 2022.

The defending champions from City College of San Francisco had a rugged outing on Saturday, falling Butte College 35-14. The Rams were never quite themselves, and fell all the way to No. 26 in the rankings as a result. Butte jumped up to No. 23 in the rankings after the win and now face No. 32 Modesto this weekend. San Francisco will try and pick up the pieces against No. 49 Fresno City.

Riverside City continued to impress with a dominating win over Saddleback on Saturday (34-3). The Tigers are now No. 3 in the rankings and have a huge date with No. 16 Golden West College on Saturday. Interestingly, RCC quarterback Jake Retzlaff was the quarterback at Golden West last fall and opted to transfer to RCC to play with his brother (Reggie) after the two programs met in the SoCal finals last season.

College of San Mateo appears to be the top team in Northern California and the Bulldogs are at No. 5 in the rankings after dismantling Modesto, 36-14. The Bulldogs will travel to No. 55 American River this weekend.

The Jayhawk Conference has a big battle this weekend when No. 1 Hutchinson travels to No. 20 Coffeyville. Both programs had a bye week to prepare for a game that could have huge playoff and bowl implications down the road.

The biggest game in the Mississippi ranks this Thursday will take place in Perkinston when No. 10 East Mississippi travels to No. 12 Gulf Coast. Both teams have a loss and a second loss would likely eliminate them from any talk of titles.

We had two big risers this week in Georgia Military College and Cerritos College. GMC scored a massive win when they trounced Lackawanna, 34-12. Cerritos improved to 3-0 with a hard-fought win over previously unbeaten Allan Hancock. GMC now comes in at No. 15 in the rankings and gets to celebrate with a bye. Cerritos is now at No. 21 and has a home date with Southwestern, which should push them to 4-0.

Here is the rest of the JCGridiron Dirty 30 Rankings. Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings/records.
