Coffeyville LB has freaky talent

He would have been one of the top 20 players in Georgia in the class of 2005, but his grades kept him from being more heavily recruited.
Eventually Ft. Valley (Ga.) Peach County outside linebacker Fred Wright landed at Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College where he's quickly become one of the nation's top junior college linebackers in quick three-game span.

In three games, Wright, who is 5-foot-10 ½ and 195 pounds, is second on the team with 24 tackles, two sacks and two forced fumbles. He's a player that has the Coffeyville staff buzzing with excitement.
"He's a freak," Coffeyville assistant coach Rico Cherico said. "Wow is all I can say. He plays our WILL linebacker spot and he's all over the field."
Looking at Wright it's easy to see why. Wright has three-percent body fat and looks like a Greek God. By the time he fills out to the 210-pound range by his sophomore season, Cherico said he "could be the best linebacker we've had in quite some time."
That means a lot considering that the Red Ravens produce almost as much talent as any body in the nation each year.
"He's a difference maker," Cherico said. "He has one of the best motors that I've seen. He's a freak. I don't know what else to say."
Wright is already spoken for when it comes to his future. Cherico said he was placed at Coffeyville by Kansas State.
"He's orally committed to Kansas State," Cherico said. "I know others like Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee will still try to recruit him, but Joe Bob (Clements) at K-State got him here and they did all the recruiting for us, so we plan on him going back there."
Wright said he's enjoyed his time in Kansas so far.
"Everybody told me that Coffeyville football was big-time," Wright said. "And they were right. I'm playing with great players and with some great coaches. I can't wait to see how the rest of the season develops."
