CCSF wins first-ever Dirty 30 Title

The City College of San Francisco football program has won as many titles as any program in the country, but never claimed the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 championship in the history of the rankings. That all changed on Saturday when the Rams defeated Saddleback, 26-14, to claim the CCCAA state title and with it capture the Dirty 30 National Title.
San Francisco won nine mythical national titles from other organizations in the past under former legendary head coach George Rush, but never could quite came up with the right formula to capture the Dirty 30 title. The Rams finished in second to East Mississippi in 2011, third in 2007 and fourth in both 2009 and 2010, but never laid claim to the elusive Dirty 30 title, which started in 2005.

The wait finally ended on Saturday when San Francisco defended its #1 ranking and claimed the California state championship with a 26-14 win over a solid Saddleback squad that finished #5 in the rankings. The Rams clogged up a Gaucho offense that has been known to score points in bunches…keeping Saddleback off the scoreboard for more than 3.5 quarters. It ended with an ice-bucket celebration over the head of a 29-year-old coach who looks closer to 15, but has the poise and charisma of a 50-year-old. Congrats to Jimmy Collins and his San Francisco program, you are the JCGridiron.com Dirty 30 National Champions for 2015!
The rankings also saw one other move as Snow moved up to #2 in the rankings after a final review of the schedules and scores. The Badgers ended up winning the Western States Football League for both the regular season and playoffs, which was very impressive given the conferences' performance in bowl games. The WSFL went 3-0 during the bowl season, besting three programs that spent nearly the entire season in the Dirty 30 Rankings. The Badgers finished with a resounding 38-14 win over a Dodge City program that was co-champions of the prestigious Jayhawk Conference.
The NJCAA champion Northwest Mississippi moved up to #4 in the final rankings, but received arguably the worst bowl pairing of any of the top teams in drawing #32 Rochester in the NJCAA finals. The Rangers were very good, but couldn't draw the right matchups down the stretch to make a claim for a title. They had two, 10-point wins over #9 Gulf Coast and a seven-point win over #10 East Central, but were trounced by #6 East Mississippi by 33 points and never got a shot at the rematch with the Lions being tossed from the playoffs in the final week of the season. It would have been to see what they would have done against Snow or Iowa Western.
In closing, the 2015 season was arguably the wildest and most unpredictable season we have seen in the 11-year run of the rankings. The top-5 was a continuous overhaul, week after week. In the end, San Francisco took over the top spot with a dominating win on Halloween, and opted not to take off their masks for the rest of the season. The Rams from City College of San Francisco are the Dirty 30 National Champions for 2015!
