The California schools (COA) and the schools outside of California (NJCAA) both have talented programs, but the teams don't play bowl games against each other and haven't for nearly three decades. JCGridiron is working in conjunction with a football simulator to produce a fantasy JUCO Champion.
It's all in fun, but we've taken steps to make it as entertaining as possible. We've received the starting line-ups for each program, and those who have scouted the games and know the teams have given us insight into the players. Their statistics, abilities, schemes, and coaching tendencies have been inserted into the simulator.
On January 6th at (12pm/PST, 3pm/EST), the game will be simulated and the results posted quarter-by-quarter on the JCGridiron.com. Real time statistics will be calculated, an MVP chosen, and an inaugural fantasy JUCO Champion will be anointed.
We are taking the top two programs in the final Dirty Thirty rankings. Blinn College represents the NJCAA and El Camino College represents California (COA). Both teams finished tremendous seasons, and each deserves additional exposure for their efforts.
The game will be simulated in Pasadena, California, in a contest called the Junior College Rose Bowl. It is the undercard to the NCAA National Championship which is played two days later (Monday, January 7th, 2007).
Tickets to the simulated game are free so check the front page on Saturday, January 6th at Noon to see what happened in the simulated game. JCGridiron hopes to see you there.
This is meant to be a reward and compliment to the programs that achieved so much this year and is for entertainment purposes only. We have taken every step possible to make the simulation as close to real-life as possible.
The effort and insight of Head Coach Brad Franchione and his Blinn coaching staff can't be replicated, but their tendencies have been added to the simulation.
The 21 years of experience for Head Coach John Featherstone and his El Camino staff can't be programmed into the simulation, though his schemes will be mimicked.

BLINN OFF. (352.6 ypg) vs EL CAMINO DEF. (355.6 ypg)

There are excellent match-ups when the Blinn offense and El Camino defense collide. The El Camino defense is adequate, but it doesn't dominate. It gives up 22.9 points per game, and they'll have to try to slow down Blinn's First-Team NJCAA All-American running back Bernard Scott. He averaged over 153 ypg.
Blinn's offense is built around the running game, but they have capable receivers and tight ends. Brad Guidry is the field general who will lead the passing attack. He's a smart passer (71%) who doesn't turn the ball over. His receivers are more of the possession type, and should have a hard time against the physical El Camino defensive backs.
Overall Blinn is sending a very good offensive line and running back against an El Camino defense that runs well from side to side. At first glance the advantage appears to be in Blinn's favor, but Elisha Mueller and Vuna Tuihalamaka are big time playmakers at linebacker for El Camino and can change momentum at any time.

EL CAMINO OFF. (405.4 ypg) vs BLINN DEF. (129.5 ypg)

Jamicah Bass is equally intimidating to defenses. The El Camino running back balances the scales at running back when compared to Bernard Scott. Bass doesn't average as many yards, but that's because of the El Camino passing attack.
Boo Jackson is the El Camino passer who will try to guide passes around Ryan Mouton and Walner Leandre who are two award-winning defenders for Blinn. Fortunately Jackson has Kayne Farquharson and Corey Surrency in his arsenal.
Regardless of the high powered El Camino offense that produced an average of 405 ypg, the Blinn defense is tougher than an Armadillo. The defense gave up fewer than 130 yards per game thanks to defensive backs Moutan and Leandre. Alex Cook is a disruptive defensive end who will try to slow down the El Camino passing game by applying pressure or causing turnovers.
Expect the Blinn defense to slow down El Camino, but it will be a difficult task for the defense to create turnovers. The collision between these units will be heard from coast to coast.
