The 2024 season has reached the midway point and the race for the Dirty 30 national title has never been closer. A handful of teams have established themselves as the frontrunners, with a ton of others lurking.
Hutchinson remains in the top spot after dominating against Dodge City, 42-0. The Blue Dragons had a couple of tough games during the early part of the schedule but have beaten their last two opponents, 141-0. Hutchinson will travel to Independence College this weekend.
No. 2 Gulf Coast had a bye this past weekend after a 5-0 start in Mississippi play. The Bulldogs have quality wins over No. 29 East Mississippi, No. 10 Jones and No. 24 Pearl River. They will travel to No. 52 East Central this Thursday.
Mt. San Antonio is the top ranked team out west at No. 3 in the rankings. The Mounties are 4-0 after getting an unplanned bye after San Bernardino Valley shut down its program for the year this past week. Mt. SAC has a good win over No. 11 Ventura on its resume, and remains the last undefeated team in the southern half of the state. Most of the national division (upper tier) has a bye week before the Mounties head to No. 42 Cerritos on October 19.
The Southern California ranks did get one big shakeup this weekend when Saddleback went to San Diego Mesa and knocked off the previous top-10 Olympians. Saddleback’s 26-24 victory vaults them to No. 17 in the rankings this week heading into a bye while Mesa dropped to No. 20.
Butte is the top ranked team in Northern California at No. 6. The Roadrunners escaped with a 14-12 win against No. 39 Sequoias this past weekend but have quality wins against No. 35 Laney and No. 26 Modesto. Butte is the last remaining undefeated team in the northern half of the state and has a bye, with the majority of the National Division teams idle this weekend.
This week is the lightest week of the regular season, with 17 of the teams ranked in the Dirty 30 having a bye.
The rest of the Dirty 30 Rankings follow. Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings.
