The second half of the 2024 season started with a bang as two programs from the Mississippi ranks were on the wrong side of the scoreboard this past week. Gulf Coast was stunned by East Central (24-20) and Jones was dumped by Hinds (17-16).
The only remaining undefeated team in the Mississippi ranks is Holmes, who now jumps to No. 4 in the Dirty 30 Rankings. The Bulldogs cruised past Delta 52-21 to improve to 6-0. Holmes now has a tough test at No. 13 Itawamba this Thursday. Holmes then finishes with No. 9 Northwest and No. 26 East Mississippi in what is a grueling stretch of games.
The Jayhawk Conference has come down to a two-team race between No. 1 Hutchinson and No. 14 Garden City. Hutch has made a mess out of its last three opponents, winning by an aggregate score of 189-7. Garden City dropped a season-opener to Navarro but has been red hot ever since, winning its last three games by a total of 189-10. The two programs meet on the final weekend of the season. Hutchinson travels to No. 22 Coffeyville this weekend while Garden City is at No. 34 Butler.
The Southwest Junior College Football Conference is a total mess. No. 31 Tyler currently sits on top of the conference standings after a 4-0 start but is 0-2 out of conference, dropping games to No. 28 Dodge City and No. 11 Georgia Military. Kilgore is the highest-rated team in the Dirty 30 Rankings at No. 29 but has only played three real football games so far. Cisco was the highest rated team heading into last weekend before falling against New Mexico Military. Tyler hosts Cisco this weekend while Kilgore travels to Trinity Valley.
The California ranks are equally puzzling. The Northern California race has Butte sitting in the top spot as the lone undefeated program from the National Division (upper tier). The Roadrunners are No. 5 in the Dirty 30 Rankings and travel to Santa Rosa for a rare Friday game. The Southern California race is wide open, with Mt. San Antonio as the current frontrunner and ranked No. 2 in the Dirty 30 Rankings as the lone remaining undefeated team. Three other teams from the southern half of the state are in the top 10 in the Dirty 30 Rankings in No. 6 Golden West, No. 7 Riverside City and No. 10 Ventura. The toughest game for any of those teams this weekend should be Mt. SAC traveling to No. 43 Cerritos.
The rest of the Dirty 30 Rankings follow. Just a reminder, the Dirty 30 Rankings do not include games against club teams, prep schools, non-CCCAA, non-NJCAA or non-HJCAC programs in its rankings.
